• Will I have access to all of WFCU's services?

  Yes. By opening a WFCU savings account, you become eligible to be a member of our credit union and gain full access to all of our benefits including low-rate loans, free financial counseling services, Welcome CarConnection, mobile/online banking tools and more.

• Who is eligible for membership?

  Employees working on the campus at Alexandria Center for Life Sciences – Durham are eligible for free membership.

• Are remote workers eligible for membership?

  Yes, remote workers are eligible for Welcome FCU membership if their employer is on the ACLSD campus.

• Will I lose membership if my current position ends?

  No. Once you become a Welcome FCU member, you may always remain a member.

• Can non-employees become members?

  Yes. Welcome FCU offers several ways to qualify for membership. Eligibility may be based on where you live, work, worship, or attend school within certain supported counties. Individuals outside those areas may also become eligible with a $20 donation to the American Cancer Society. Learn more here.

• How do I become a member?

  You can apply online in just a few minutes, right from your desk or from home. Once your membership is approved, you can begin accessing your accounts and services. You can also apply on campus at our virtual branch.

• What is an Interactive Teller Machine (ITM)?

  An ITM works like an ATM when you need quick transactions, but also gives you the option to connect with a local, Welcome FCU Member Service Representative in real-time for personalized support.

• What can a live representative help me with at the ITM?

  Use the Welcome FCU ITM Virtual Branch to access the same services available at any in-person location. Ask questions to a live representative, open a new account, transfer money, apply for a loan and more.

• Do I have to bank at the ITM?

  No. Welcome FCU offers online and mobile banking so you can manage your finances anytime, anywhere.

• What makes a credit union different from a bank?

  As a credit union, Welcome FCU is member-focused rather than profit-focused. That often means better loan rates, fewer fees, and more personalized service.

• Are there fees to become a member?

  No. Membership is free for eligible employees.

• Is my money secure?

  Yes. Members have access to enhanced digital banking security features, including debit card controls, alerts, and account monitoring tools. Deposits are federally insured by the NCUA.
