Youth and Student Account FAQs

  • What is the Youth Account, and who is it for?

    The Youth/strong> Account is designed for youth ages 12-15 to help them learn money management with a debit card while a parent or guardian remains responsible for the account.

  • Can a minor open a Youth Account without a parent or guardian?

    No, minors under 18 must have an adult joint owner who is responsible for the account and any losses.

  • What is the Custodial Youth account, and how does it work?

    The Custodial Youth account is a savings-only account managed by a parent or guardian. The custodian controls the account and can choose to turn the funds over between ages of 18 – 21 to the child. At 21 ownership transfers to them.

  • Does the Custodial Youth account come with a debit card or checking option?

    No, this account is strictly for savings and does not include a debit card or checking account.

  • What is the Student (Academic) account, and who is eligible?

    The Student (Academic) account is designed for students ages 18-25, offering both checking and savings, with interest-earning checking on balances up to $500.

  • Are there any minimum balance requirements for these accounts?

    • Youth Account & Student (Academic) Accounts: Minimum $25 to open a checking account and $5 to maintain savings.
    • Custodial Youth Account: Minimum $5 to maintain savings.
  • Do these accounts offer mobile banking and online access?

    Yes! All three accounts come with mobile and online banking, allowing members to check balances, transfer funds, and more.

  • Can I use Zelle with these accounts?

    • Youth Account & Student (Academic): Yes, Zelle is available.
    • Custodial Youth: No, Zelle is not supported.
  • What are the daily spending and withdrawal limits?

    Student (Academic) Accounts:

    • ATM Withdrawals: $500/day
    • Debit Card (POS) Purchases: $1,000/day
    • Mobile Deposits: $2,000/day
